Welcoming BaaMe to Middelburg

Welcoming BaaMe to Middelburg

25 October 2022

BaaME Crafts will be a platform for the whole community of Middelburg to improve their lives and livelihood. We will encourage and train people to create enterprises using the products, tools and beauty around us and become entrepreneurs.

With the Karoo Winter Wool Festival starting, a door of opportunity opened for our community. “Baa” represents the sheep who produce the lustrous and luxurious fibre, wool, and “ME” stands for each person in our community and Middelburg Enterprises.

We will be making wool and mohair rugs and felted animals from our local fibres, teaching people to create knitted and crocheted items and other artistic articles.

BaaME Crafts will partner with the WORK 4 A LIVING Centre in Middelburg to empowers people to break the cycle of poverty, which stems from the poverty mindset, the spirit of entitlement and the lack of excellence. W4AL equips and empowers people to be excellent and professional in everything they do. The course includes teaching financial literacy, budgeting and how to make wise decisions with money earned. They also have an excellent Business Course to help the students with costing, marketing and running a business.

We are selling beautiful Wool and Mohair products from Picadilli Coffee shop to promote these incredible fibres. Blankets, throws, poncho’s, scarves and Makoti blankets are on sale. Rugs and animals can also be ordered.
